In partnership with Chada FM, Hit Radio and Radio 2M, the nominations were based on rotation statistics collected from the three Moroccan music-oriented radio stations, according to a statement. The nominated artists in the different categories are the ones whose songs have been most aired between September 1, 2016 and October 31, 2017.
The MMAs are divided into 7 emblematic categories of the plural character and dynamics of the Moroccan music scene: Rap / Hip-Hop / R&B, modern song, pop, fusion / rock, popular music / Rai, and Pop Dance. And the new addition this year: Video Clip category, given the growing number of music video productions and their audiences counting in millions.
In the pop category, we find five well-known artists: Zouhair Bahaoui for his song Hasta Luego ft TiiwTiiw & CHK, Douzi for Mina, Saad Lamjarred for Let Go, YouNess for his track Moul Chateau Ft. DJ Soul-A and kamal Issam for Okey.
For the Rap and the Hip-Hop, the audience will have to choose between Lbenj for the track Célibataire, Mr Crazy for Machi Mochkil and Shayfeen for Wach Kayn Maydar.
The Pop dance music is not to be left out with Dj Youcef, Brigitte Yaghi and Hatim Idar for their Shouf Shouf collaboration, Ibtissam Tiskat ft Alex Mika for Bghani B3youbi and finally Red Supa ft Samtrax for Voow.
The Rock scene represented by Amine AUB for his song B7al B7al, Betweenatna & Ali El Bekri for the track Rastaman and finally Ribab Fusion for their song Salamo.
In the category modern song, Asma Lmnawar will be present with the inevitable Andou Zine, she will be opposed to Ihab Amir for 2 Kelmat, Rhany for Jabni Mjiba, Sy Mehdi for Walou and Grini & Jamila for Zaalima.
The three artists in the traditional music category are Mohamed Adly for Ndéclaré Nebrik, Zina Daoudia for her Sayidati and Five StarVs for Zid 2000 3la 2000.
And finally, the Video Clip category will include Asma Lmnawar’s Andou Zine, Saad Lamjarred’s Let Go and Douzi’s Mina.
