Moroccans grieve Leila Alaoui

The shocking demise of French-Moroccan photographer Leila Alaoui, following the Burkina Faso attack has caused a worldwide wave of solidarity, especially in Morocco.

Many Moroccans; either acquainted with the late Leila Alaoui, or her artist colleagues, or even those who have not been familiar with her work were greatly saddened and pained with her sudden and horrifying death. In that sense, a group on Facebook has organized a wake for Leila next Friday in the city of Rabat.

“We – the community of Rabat, Morocco, and around the world – want to show our appreciation, gratitude, and love for this beautiful person” published the organizers of the wake on Facebook, giving anyone who would like to grieve while celebrating Leila Alaoui and her work the opportunity to join them on Friday, January 22nd in the kingdom’s capital; Rabat.

Not to forget the other victims of the Ouagadougou attack, and their families a sit-in has also been schedule to take place today Wednesday, January the 20th by the Embassy of Burkina Faso, in Rabat.
