Moroccan Short Film “Suicide Candidates” wins four awards in Jordan

Moroccan director Hamza Atifi’s short film “Suicide Candidates ” won four awards at the 7th Jordan International Film Festival, which ended on Sunday (October 13th) at the Royal Cultural Center in Amman.

The Moroccan film, which tackles the theme of self-sacrifice for others, has won the best film award, the best actress awarded to Ghalia Benzaouia, the best screenplay (Omaima Abd) and the best director tied with the Jordanian film “I’m not alone” by Ashraf Abadi. The latter also won the award for best lighting and photography and the best actor awarded to the Jordanian Ahmad Al-Omariqui.

The prize for best editing was awarded to the French film “La préie” and the best soundtrack to the Egyptian film “Wara Shajjar” (“Behind the trees”). While the Afghan film “Hidden Color” received the special jury prize.

Eighteen films from Poland, Andorra, Morocco, Egypt, France, Germany, and Afghanistan as well as three Jordanian films were in the running for the festival’s awards.
