Moroccan Najat Rochdi appointed Deputy Special Coordinator of the UN for Lebanon

The Moroccan Najat Rochdi becomes Deputy Special Coordinator of the United Nations for Lebanon as well as Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in the same country, as recently announced by the UN’s Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres.

Najat Rochdi is the new United Nations Deputy Special Coordinator for Lebanon. She thus succeeds Philippe Lazzarini from Switzerland and also holds the position of Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in the same country.

Najat Rochdi has over 20 years of experience in the development and humanitarian aid sector. Indeed, she notably held the post of Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, Humanitarian Coordinator in the Central African Republic (CAR), Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Cameroon and more recently Senior Advisor to the Special Envoy of the United Nations for Syria and Director of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Geneva.
