Moroccan Nadia Kounda named best actress at El-Gouna film festival

Moroccan actress Nadia Kounda won the best actress award at the El-Gouna film festival in Egypt for her role in Volubilis by Faouzi Bensaidi.

An award for her role in Volubilis, Faouzi Bensaidi’s latest film. Shot in Meknes and Casablanca, this film tells the love story between Abdelkader (played by Mouhcine Malzi), shopping mall guard, and Malika (played by Nadia Kounda), a maid. Everything seems to go perfectly smooth until a conflict is triggered at the young man’s work … and nothing seems to go as before.

The film was premiered at the Venice Film Festival and then took part at the first edition of the El Gouna Film Festival in Egypt which took place from 22 to 29 September.
