Beyoncé’s newest music video “Already” featuring Shatta Wale and Major Lazer was released simultaneously with her visual album, ‘Black Is King’ available on the streaming service Disney Plus.
Taken from the album “The Lion King: The Gift”, released in 2019, and which is the subject of the feature film directed by Beyoncé herself, the clip “Already”, with a well-polished aesthetic, shows the singer dancing in various settings evoking several places in the world.
And the big surprise for the Moroccans came at minute 4.18 of the clip, when the flag of Morocco appears. Especially since it was released on July 30, a date that coincides with the Feast of the Throne in Morocco. So is it a shout out or a mere coincidence?
Perhaps it’s a reference to the African-American demonstrators who waved the flag of Morocco in American cities, during the protests of the Black Lives Matter movement, and who belong to the Moorish Science Temple of America, a religious organization that draws its historical roots from Morocco… and which made the Moroccan flag its own.
