During a press conference, Mr. Mahamoud Bellahcen, Director and founder of the festival indicated that this edition will be marked by the launch for the first time of the writing residency in partnership with the Fiction TV festival of La Rochelle and the French Embassy at Morocco.
This edition will pay tribute to two figures of the Moroccan art scene, namely Malika El Omari and Mohamed El Jem in recognition of their rich artistic journey, he said.
The festival will welcome the participation for the first time of Saudi Arabia and Switzerland, in addition to other countries which have already taken part in previous editions of this annual event, noted the director of the festival, adding that a seminar on the theme “Writing for the small screen” will also be organized on this occasion.
For his part, the head of the service of cultural and social affairs in the municipality of Meknes, Bachir Bebadi affirmed that the municipality will continue to support this cultural event so that it claims a place among national festivals.
The official competition of this edition sees the participation of 9 TV movies and series tackling various social issues.
Chaired by producer and director Eyad Al Khazouz, the jury for the series category is made up of Lebanese journalist and actress Stephanie Saliba and Moroccan actress Hafida Baadi.
On the other hand, the TV movie jury is chaired by Hassan Esmili and includes the Moroccan actress and director Majida Benkirane and the Egyptian actor Ahmed Abdelaziz.
As a reminder, the TV movie “Ali Ya Ali” by Abdelhay Iraki, had won the grand prize of the 8th edition of the television fiction festival in Meknes.
