Maryam Touzani’s  film receives a standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival

“Adam”, Maryam Touzani’s first feature film, received thunderous applause from the audience during its screening at the 72nd edition of the Cannes Film Festival. The film is competing in the category “Un certain regard”.

It was expected. The first feature film by Maryam Touzani, “Adam”, was presented at the 72nd edition of the Cannes Film Festival and has already seduced the public who expressed it with a standing ovation during the screening.

‘Adam’ tells the story of two women, Samia, and Abla (played by Lubna Azabal and Nisrin Erradi), who meet in the Medina of Casablanca. One is a single mother, pregnant, and idle. The other is a young widow and mother of an 8-year-old girl who tosses away her grief by preparing pastries. The film was entirely directed and written by Maryam Touzan. It was also produced by her partner and husband, filmmaker Nabil Ayouch with whom she has collaborated in ” Much Loved” and “Razzia”.
The film “Adam” is competing in the ” Un certain regard ” category chaired by Lebanese filmmaker Nadine Labaki. The festival continues until May 25th.
