Leila Slimani’s “Chanson Douce” film adaptation starts

“Chanson Douce”, Leïla Slimani’s book film adaptation has just begun. The first was given this Monday, May 21st. Casting and confidences of the director.

A year and a half after the announcement of the project , the film production begins to take shape. The direction will be provided by Lucie Borleteau, who replaced Maïwenn Le Besco after she withdrew from the project.

As for the cast, we find Leïla Bekhti , Karin Viard and Antoine Reinartz to represent the characters of “Chanson Douce”. Often described as a thriller, the book depicts the assassination of two young children by their nurse. It is inspired by the personal experience of the author, who grew up with a nanny in Morocco, but also a news story in New York in 2012. The novel was a best-seller for the author following her win of Goncourt award in 2016.

For the director, Leïla Slimani’s book is ” a pit without emotional bottom and steamroller where the words always bring out very strong images and sensual tracks”.
