Author Leila Bahsain sees her book “Le Ciel sous nos pas” selected for the Prix de la littérature arabe. In this first book, which won the Prix de la Nouvelle de Tangier 2011 and the Prix Méditerranée of the first novel, the author tells the story of a young Moroccan girl, from her childhood in her native country till her arrival in France.
As she is confident with regards to men and the West, she will live a thousand adventures, like a modern Zazie, between laughter and tears! And breaking a taboo: the country of Enlightenment is not the dream of Maghrebi women’s rights, as explained by Albin Michel Editions on their website.
Other nominees for this award are Mohammed Abdelnabi for “The House of the Spider”, Kaouther Adimi for ” The Little ones of December “, Camille Ammoun for ” Ugarit “, Yasmine Khlat for ” Egypt 51 “, Georgia Makhlouf for ” Port- au-Prince Round Trip “and Dima Wannous for” Those who are afraid “.
