Moroccan-American Dounia, one of the rising R&B artists has cancelled her concert in Casablanca. Naming “security reasons” as the main cause.

The L’Boulevard festival has just announced a change in program. The Moroccan artist based in New York is no longer part of the 18th edition which takes place from 14 to 16 September and from 20 to 23 September in Casablanca. As Dounia’s concert was scheduled on Friday, September 14th at 9:10 pm, some changes to Friday’s concerts were therefore necessary.

Dounia was the first to announce the news to her 47,400 followers on Twitter. The 21-year-old artist mentions, in a tweet deleted after a few hours, “security reasons” to a fan who asked her about her concert in Casablanca.

The festival’s team however gave another reason to explain Dounia’s absence. “This is due to the formalities related to the payment of the artist,” a member of the team at L’Boulevart told HuffPost Morocco. “We had an agreement in principle, we still had to sort things that were eventually not settled in time which left the deal unsealed,” he added.

Meanwhile, a host of emerging and confirmed Moroccan and international artists will be waiting for festival-goers at the RUC stadium, including the rapper Ness You, the rock band General Rest in Peace, the gnaoua fusion Abda Express residence. , the rap duo Shayfeen, or the dub’s genius, Mad Professor.
