Launch of a project combating violence against women in public spaces in Marrakech

In partnership with the UN-Women Maghreb, the Ennakhil association is launching a project combating violence against women and girls in the public spaces of the ocher city.

The project is called “contribution in the fight against violence against women and girls in public spaces at the level of the various districts of the ocher city”. Initiated by the Ennakhil association, in partnership with the UN-Women Maghreb, it aims to put in place a local public policy in order to contribute to the fight against violence against women and girls and to guarantee their safety in public spaces at the level of the various districts of the ocher city.

On the occasion of its kickoff, Thursday, February 25, the president of the Ennakhil association, Zakia Mrini, indicated that the said project, spread over one year, also sets itself the objectives of supporting the ocher city in order to may it become a safe city free from violence against women and girls, through the creation of an appropriate environment for gender equality. This requires the development of local planning integrating the gender approach in the budget in order to fight effectively against violence against women and girls in the territorial policies of the five districts of the urban municipality of Marrakech, and the creation and support of initiatives likely to strengthen the safety of women in public spaces and integrate them into the action plans of the five districts, unions, professional associations and companies, She added, before continuing that it is also a question of increasing the feeling of security among women in public spaces, of improving the level of use of these places, and to strengthen the safety of women in public transport in Marrakech.
