Khadija Mardi wins bronze at World Boxing Championship

Morocco’s Khadija Mardi won the bronze medal at the World Boxing Championship held from October 3rd to 13th in Russia, becoming the first Moroccan boxer to reach the top 3 at a world championship.

She managed her way to the semi-finals by winning against Russia’s Golovchenko Galina, Bulgaria’s Viktoria Kevikov and Turkey’s Demir Sennur, until she came across Wales’ invincible Lauren Price. Khadija Mardi failed to beat her but won the bronze.

A magnificent performance for the Moroccan champion who had not competed on the international ring since the Rio 2016 Olympics due to her pregnancy. She is now back in force, thus becoming, the first Moroccan boxer to climb on the podium at a world championship.
