Irish singer Sinead O’Connor converts to Islam

Irish singer Sinead O’Connor has just announced her conversion to Islam. This revelation was made by the artist herself on her Twitter account.

Aged 51-year-old, Sinead O’Connor is now called ‘Shuhada’.  The Irish singer who had been enlisted in a separatist Catholic sect surprised everyone by announcing her conversion. Veiled and delighted to have found a new way, the interpreter of “Nothing Compares 2U” addressed the topic on her Twitter account where the profile picture now reads ” Wear a hijab, just do it “.

‘Shuhada’ who had gone through a period of great depression and attempted to end her life, tried to sing the adhan (call to prayer). A video posted on Youtube that she shared with her 16,000 subscribers on Twitter.

Sinead O’Connor rose to fame in the 90’s with the title “Nothing Compares 2 U” and publicly tore Pope John Paul II’s picture live on television and called him “an enemy”. Before becoming a Muslim, she was ordained a priest of a fundamentalist church and even explored Rastafarian beliefs during a long stay in Jamaica.

Her latest conversion was hailed by twitter followers who encouraged and welcomed the decision.
