ICESCO highlights the importance of women in building the world of tomorrow

The 2021 ICESCO Year of Women is launched. On this occasion, high-level participants gave their support and praised the vision of the Organization of the Islamic World for Education, Sciences, and Culture (ICESCO), highlighting the importance of women’s participation in building the world of tomorrow.

On the occasion of the launch of the 2021 ICESCO Year of Women, high-level participants including first ladies, princesses, ministers, and heads of international organizations welcomed the initiatives of Member States and regional and international organizations to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) relating to women.

An event placed under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI organized by ICESCO, face-to-face and remotely, around the theme “Women icons: inspiration for the future”. On this occasion, the participants also welcomed certain initiatives such as the development of a training program for girls – allowing the launch of an international academy of young women leaders -, as well as the creation of ”a specialized international platform bringing together women leaders in different development fields (exchange of expertise and best practices, coordination, and support).

The participants also pledged to cooperate with relevant parties in the Member States and support them to advance international women’s indicators, in accordance with national policies and balances.
