The Gnawa Diffusion group to perform at Backstage

The Backstage celebrates its first anniversary and sees it big! To blow out its first candle, the Casablanca art space welcomes the group Gnawa Diffusion on January 23.

The legendary Algerian group will present the best of its musical repertoire. Founded by Amazigh Kateb in 1992, Gnawa Diffision has a dozen albums sung in French, Arabic, and Amazigh. Their unique style is simply an ingenious fusion between traditional music from North Africa including gnawa, Berber and Kabyle sounds, rai and western music such as jazz, rap, reggae, rock. Their song, which has toured the world, carries a message committed to peace, freedom of expression, dialogue, and love.

The group Gnawa Diffusion, representing a whole generation, still seduce young music lovers wherever they perform. They will perform again in Casablanca and give the best of his work.

Ghislaine Andalous, General Director of Backstage explained that “ This concert comes to close a great year which saw the big names of Moroccan song performing on the Backstage scene but also young emerging groups who need a platform to play in front of the general public as well as known foreign groups who were passing through Morocco. The event also marks the start of a new year which is, for us, full of challenges to be achieved. ”
