Morocco has received the prize for Best International Gastronomic Destination at the third edition of the “Gastro et Cia” from the Spanish newspaper “La Razón” in Spain.
The award was received at a ceremony held on Monday, October 1st, in Madrid, by the delegate of the Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) in Spain, Mohamed Sofi, in the presence of the Moroccan ambassador to Spain, Karima Benyaich.
According to the organizers, the award to Morocco of the prize for the best international gastronomic destination is a tribute to its cuisine characterized by the quality of its products and the patience in the development of its dishes known throughout the world.
It is also, according to them, a cuisine with multiple influences: Berber, Arab-Andalusian and Jewish and also from sub-Saharan Africa and Asia.
For the ONMT delegate in Spain, the award of this award to Morocco is another international recognition of the the richness and diversity of Moroccan cuisine that has preserved its originality and its cultural unique specificities, the result of multiple cultural heritages.
