Launched by Four Seasons Hotel Casablanca in 2017, “Cultural Escapade on the Atlantic” is a year-round cultural initiative focused on spotlighting local artists and giving Hotel patrons an opportunity to discover the local art scene in the comfort of the Hotel’s space.
For its first event of 2018, the Hotel’s signature restaurant Bleu will host a solo exhibition by the renowned artist and painter Wafaa Mezouar entitled ‘Explosion Minérale 2′ running until April 30, 2018. The perfect opportunity to merge gastronomy and painting, the works of two artists; Executive Chef and Hotel craftsman Guillaume Blanchard and his creations that revive the works of Wafaa Mezouar displayed in the background.
Wafaa Mezouar is a painter and art therapist originally from the city of Meknes in Morocco. She graduated from Casablanca’s Higher Institute of Arts and made her name on the international scene after she was awarded several times for her works and efforts. Her most distinguished accolades include the Bronze Medal at Dauphine Art Sciences & Lettres in Paris in 2011 and two gold Medals at the Olympic Games of Fine Art in London in 2012.
Mezouar’s work is mostly inspired by Moroccan culture and heritage. She translates emotions using mixed techniques and materials such as acrylics and natural pigments, which critics describe as art that is at once organic, textural, dimensional and spiritual.
