The Afro-London band Ibibio Sound Machine, which took on the Bouregreg stage on Tuesday, held an extraordinary concert on their African debut at the Mawazine Rhythms of the World Festival in its 16th edition in Rabat.
During the show, singer Eno Williams took the moments between the pieces to express her love for the Moroccan public and her joy in singing in Bouarraq, inviting the audience to light their phone’s flash LEDs and illuminate « the city of lights. »
Ibibio Sound Machine is an Afro-London collective that heats the bins with fusional cocktails beautifully mixing highlife and electro, post-punk and disco styles. Discovered three years ago, the band has since then impressed music fans with its outstanding pieces, mixing futuristic funk with synths and above all the powerful voice of the Anglo-Nigerian Eno Williams. The Pot Is On Fire, the first groovy soundtrack of Uyai’s latest album, combines punch synths, and percussions, blurring the frontiers of music styles, allowing Ibibio Sound Machine music to travel freely in time and space.
