Feminist issues at the heart of the 16th Mobile Film Festival

Written by FDM

The 16th edition of the Mobile Film Festival is dedicated to Women’s Empowerment. Until October 20, directors are invited to send their short films addressing the many issues affecting women.

“After two editions devoted to climate change in 2015 and 2019, and one on human rights in 2018, the Mobile Film Festival has chosen to support the objectives of the United Nations, and in particular the Generation Equality campaign of UN Women, one of the partners of this edition ”, explains the UN office.

Indeed, this year, the keyword at the Mobile Film Festival is women. Thus, the directors are called upon to create short films under the theme of Women’s Empowerment and according to the unique format which has been the originality of the festival for 16 years, namely “1 Mobile, 1 Minute, 1 Film”. The deadline for the submission of videos is October 20.
The questions raised in these mini videos will thus highlight the struggles of the feminist movement all over the world for a search for real equality. The aim of the festival is quite simply to reveal and support the talents of tomorrow by helping them go professional. At the end of the day, 7 prizes including 2 grants for the production of a film in the amount of € 20,000.
As for the jury, it will be chaired by the actress Agnès Jaoui surrounded by film professionals and activists, exceptional women, and men. Among them, Chiara Corazza, Executive Director of the Women’s Forum for the Economy and Society, the brothers David and Stéphane Foenkinos, the author Tania de Montaigne or the journalist and director Marine Périn. In short, as the Festival says, be engaged, militant, and imaginative!
