Egyptian actress Aida Kamel dies at 89

Egyptian actress Aida Kamel died on Monday in Cairo at the age of 89 after a long illness.

The Higher Council of Culture in Egypt deplored the death of this emblematic figure of cinema, who began her career in the early 1950s after studying radio and television.

Throughout her artistic career, Aida Kamel has participated in about 120 works of cinema and radio-television alongside a host of renowned artists, including Ismail Yassin, Abdelhalim Hafed, and Fatin Hamama.

Suffering from health problems, Aida Kamel spent roughly three weeks in the hospital in Cairo before passing away on Monday, September 7, 2020.
