Education: no return to classes before September

Written by FDM

The school year is officially over in Morocco, at least on a physical level since e-courses will continue to be provided via the various teaching platforms. Only the Baccalaureate exams are maintained.

The Minister of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research, government spokesperson, Saaid Amzazi announced that all students will not return to schools before early September 2020. The decision has been made during the weekly session of the House of Councilors.

This decision, which is justified by the current pandemic, will not be without consequences on the educational level of millions of students because it must be recognized that it is almost impossible to replace a system where students spend hours in class with their teachers with a distance education where it is the parents who take on this role. This situation is experienced dramatically by parents without any level of education or illiterate.

The Minister also announced that the baccalaureate exams will be maintained, namely the national exam for the second year of the baccalaureate (senior year of high school), which will be organized in July and the regional exam for the first year of the baccalaureate (junior year of high school), which will take place in September.
