The 2020-2021 academic year will kick off on September 1, the  Ministry of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research announced on Thursday.

The administrative staff will join their departments on September 1st, while educators will go back to schools on September 2. Classes will kick-off on September 7 for preschool, the three cycles of education (primary, secondary middle school and high school) and preparation classes for the Higher Technician Certificate (BTS). However, classes dedicated to students of the non-formal education will begin on October 5, affirmed the Ministry of National Education, in a press release.

As reported, school year will start under the sign “For a renewed, equitable, civic and inclusive school”, with the resumption of post by the executives and officials of the educational administration and the inspectorate, the executives in charge of management of financial services, guidance and educational planning frameworks and administrative, educational and social support and common administrative frameworks.

It was also decided to devote the first lessons, from September 7 to October 3, to the diagnosis and assessment of the students’ achievements before starting the support courses, taking into account their learning assessment during the period of lockdown, while the school program will be implemented from October 5, while continuing to consolidate student achievements through the programming of support courses for learners who will need it, continues the ministry.

Given the exceptional circumstances due to the coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19), certain new features will be incorporated into the provisions of the ministerial decision, which aim to organize a re-entry under normal conditions, the press release notes, adding that these novelties are linked, especially, to the distance learning device.
