Easter Egg: Gourmet Creation of the Royal Mansour Marrakech

The Pastry Chef of the Royal Mansour Marrakech, Jean Lachenal, finds his inspiration in the wealth and ancestral know-how of Moroccan craftsmanship, of which the palace is a sublime showcase.

This year, for Easter, he imagined a chocolate jar inspired by the craftsmanship of Berber potters. The Chef drew inspiration from his hikes and his discoveries in the Atlas Mountain, where he was fascinated by the authenticity of rural pottery. The traditional shaping of the raw earth particularly caught his attention and was his source of inspiration for the creation of his Easter egg.

By modeling and patinating his chocolate, Jean Lachenal stepped into the shoes of a ceramist on his potter’s wheel. The Result is an identical reproduction of the iconic traditional terracotta jar. Except that this one is made of milk chocolate from Ghana and decorated with primitive patterns in dark chocolate from Tanzania, and has in its heart praline rocks with grilled almonds, spiced with a hint of cinnamon and Egyptian Nile fleur de sel, to the delight of connoisseurs and chocolate lovers!
