Coronavirus: Morocco to close cafes and restaurants

The Moroccan Ministry of the Interior has decided to close cafes, restaurants and other public places from Monday, March 16 at 6:00 p.m. until further notice, in order to halt the spread of the coronavirus in the Kingdom.

Other public places are also affected by this measure, such as game rooms, party rooms, clubs, sports halls, Hammams, and nearby grounds, said the ministry’s press release. This decision comes after the kingdom issued an order to halt all international trips coming to and going from Morocco.

The Ministry of the Interior invites all citizens to join and contribute strongly with a sense of responsibility and patriotism and to interact positively with all the orientations and measures taken to manage this exceptional situation and to avoid visiting large gatherings and comply with the general standards of prevention and health security recommended by the competent authorities.

In related news, a new confirmed case of the novel Coronavirus was recorded on Monday, March 16 in Morocco, bringing the total of contaminations to 29, said the ministry of health. The national balance sheet to date has 29 confirmed cases, 135 excluded one recovery and one death.
