This is a first for the Botola Pro: a woman appointed central referee of the match played on Saturday, October 10 between Moghreb Athletic Tétouan (MAT) and Olympique Club de Khouribga (OCK), the 30th and final day of Botola Pro D1. And it is far from having gone unnoticed.
Bouchra Karboubi, aged 32, was appointed as an international referee in 2016. Two years later, the African Football Confederation (CAF) had selected her from among the “Elite A” category referees, as the Royal Moroccan Football Federation ( FRMF) top-tier on its website.
The same year, she had officiated matches in the women’s finals of the African Cup of Nations.
Bouchra Karboubi is one of the candidates to referee matches in the women’s finals of the 2023 World Cup.
