For its fifth edition, the Kasbah Short Film festival will tackle “The role of film culture in enriching the taste of young people”. An event initiated by the Education and Development Association-Ouarzazate section with the support of several local, regional and national institutions.
The novelty of this year? The edition is named after the Moroccan filmmaker Daoud Oulad Sayed in recognition of his career which “honors the Moroccan filmography nationally and internationally because of the many distinctions he has won in national and international festivals,” as the organizers said.
An exceptional jury is also expected for this edition. Chaired by the Egyptian artist Sherine, it consists of Moroccan actress Bouchra Ahrich, film and television director (Italy) Raffaele Mertes, head of the festival department at Fespaco (Pan-African Film and Television Festival in Ouagadougou), François Akouabou Adianaga, Youssef Ait Hammou and musicologist Mustapha El Ouardi.
An array of short films in the running, book signing events by writers who evoke the cinematographic field, conferences, workshops as well as two exhibitions, not to mention the visit to the Cinema Museum, Kasbah Taourirt and the Oscar Studio. Screenings in several schools in the region are also part of the program.
