Written by FDM

For the 25th edition of the Casablanca International Publishing and Book Fair scheduled from February 8 to 17, the French Institute of Morocco honors authors who have been interested in Africa as Sophie Bava, Barbara Cassin, or Benjamin Stora.

42 countries are taking part in the 25th edition of the Casablanca International Publishing and Book Fair (SIEL), including France through the French Institute of Morocco, which has carefully concocted a rich and varied program.

Inspired by the title of Souleymane Bachir Diagne’s book, “En Quête d’Afrique(s)” (In Quest of Africa (s)), this new edition honors authors who weave invisible threads between African countries, revisit the representations attached to the continent or engage in the dissolution of its internal borders, working to spread an African thought on Africa, as the Institute explains in a statement.

Among the invited authors: Sophie Bava, Barbara Cassin, Souleymane Bashir Diagne, Mehdi Alioua, Driss Jaydane, Achille Mbmembe, Benjamin Stora, and many others. Also, on the sidelines of SIEL, debates and signature sessions are scheduled in the presence of writers such as Simon Njami, Gaspard Njock, Zakia Daoud, Abdelfattah Kilito, Tassadit Yacine or Youssef Amine Elalamy.
