The Bologna International Youth Fair has unveiled the names of the publishing houses competing for the BOP 2021-Bologna Prize for the best children’s publishers of the year. Out of the 30 finalists, five publishers per continent, the publishing house Yanbow Al Kitab has been nominated. It thus represents the African continent, alongside Cassava Republic (Nigeria), Mikuki na Nyota (Tanzania), New Africa Books (South Africa), and Protea Boekhuis (South Africa).
The BOP Prize is a special opportunity to introduce the world to the most progressive publishers of all continents for their creative and intellectual contribution to the development of book publishing and to encourage their bold choice of books of the previous year, as the publishing house Yanbow Al Kitab explained in a press release.
Exhibitors participating in the online edition of the Bologna Children’s Book Fair as well as those who participated in 2019 and 2020 can vote for the publisher of their choice over the next two weeks. The winners will be announced on June 14, 2021, the opening day of the Fair, which will take place this year from June 14 to 17 in digital format.
