For its fifth edition, the International Artists Gathering of Fez highlighted the powerful role of arts and culture in building a creative economy, by analyzing and reflecting on the way in which the arts contribute to supporting human development, in particular at the heart of such a historic city, while having a modern vision.
Presentations and round tables discussed the role of the creative industries as a vector of economic development in Morocco and Africa. The gathering also explored the role of art in society, and how it can be a tool for influencing the social economy.
Moreover, creative workshops were hosted by the artists and entrepreneurs participating in the meetings, to introduce the public to creative professions and their role in the construction of a creative economy.
This Meeting has provided a global platform for participants to discuss and explore the role of art in the modern world. Among the invited artists were: Hamza El Fasiki, a regular at this meeting, craftsman and entrepreneur from Fez; Ewa Potocka, an artist from Poland; Ali Gharib, curator from Germany, Lamiae Skalli, entrepreneur and silversmith from Fez; and Nicci Pallant, an artist from Australia.
