An all-women jury at the 2018 International Animation film Festival of Meknes

FICAM is back. This meeting of animation cinema, unique in Africa and in the Arab world returns from March 16 to 21, 2018 with a rich and varied selection. The pre-selection of this edition has been entrusted to three women.  

Organized by the Aicha Foundation in partnership with the French Institute of Meknes, the International Animation film Festival of Meknes celebrates this year its 17th edition. A longevity and maturity that make it a unique event on the African continent and the Arab world scale.

Praised by the general public, students from art and audiovisual schools in Morocco, professionals and distinguished guests, FICAM returns this year with a varied, rich and festive selection of animated films, from the hidden treasures of heritage and contemporary creation.

The first and only international short film competition in Africa is proposed by FICAM.  More than 200 applications from 24 countries were received as part of the Courts Compét ‘competition for the best international short films.

An all-women jury is composed of Ghita Zine, Moroccan journalist and president of the Association of Mediterranean Meetings of Cinema and Human Rights (ARMCDH), Olesya Shchukina, Russian artist in illustration and animation and winner of the school La Poudrière in France, who lives and works in Paris, and Marie-Pauline Mollaret, journalist and film critic, who is a member of the selection committee for short films for the Semaine de la Critique in Cannes, presided over the selection of this edition.
