The Special Commission on the Development Model (CSMD) held its first working session on Monday, December 16th, at the headquarters of the Academy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Rabat.
Chaired by Chakib Benmoussa and composed of Moroccan experts evolving in the country and abroad in different fields, academics and researchers, the commission intends to favor in its approach a “public and participative debate” which should be based on the media’s support, in all its forms and expressions, in a climate of ” transparency and openness”. In this perspective, a communication pole is created within the Commission to maintain relations with the media and to listen to public opinion expressed through social networks. The management of this pole was entrusted to two Moroccan journalists: Aicha Akalay and Abdellah Tourabi.
A talented journalist and editorial writer, Aicha Akalay took over the post of publication director of the weekly Tel Quel until last September. She had succeeded in giving a strong impetus to the title, in particular by launching the website Tel Quel, the paid newsletter, then by merging the two publications. Aicha Akalay has a Masters in journalism from Sciences Po Paris.
Abdellah Tourabi, for his part, is a columnist and host of the debate program “Press secrets” on 2M and graduated in Law and Political Science.
The duo will be responsible for communicating with all the media, being available to journalists and providing them with all the elements and explanations necessary for their work. A communication strategy oriented towards social networks is also being implemented by the CSMD, which aims to interact with the users of these platforms.
