 8-year-old Moroccan wins the biggest reading challenge in the Arab world (video)

Meryem Amjoune, barely 8 years-old, brilliantly won the Arab reading contest on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, the biggest competition of its kind in the Arab world.

Originally from Tissa, in Taounate province, this teacher’s daughter has faced in Dubai, candidates from all over the Middle East. Thus, the first prize that the young student gained, allows her to benefit from a sum of 550,000 dirham emirate (MAD 1,430,489), or 150,000 dollars. $100,000 will be reserved for her university studies and $ 50,000 will go to her family as an incentive.

In the video above, the little girl is seen crying with emotion. Emirati vice-president, emir of the State of Dubai, Sheikh Mohamed bin Rached Al Maktoum, took a moment to wipe her tears with his headdress. Congratulations!
