King Mohammed VI launched the Food Distribution Operation which helps 600,000 families, nearly 3 million people including widows. An increasing figure as it is 100,000 more households than last year.
King Mohammed VI gave instructions to launch the Operation food distribution to support 600,000 poor families, as the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity announced on Saturday 25 April in a press release. As part of the national mobilization initiated by the Sovereign to fight against the effects of the pandemic Coronavirus (Covid-19), and pursuant to the High Royal instructions, the Foundation organizes the 21st edition of the food support operation “Ramadan 1441”.
This year, the number of beneficiary families stands at 600,000, which corresponds to around 3 million people in need, including widows, the elderly, and people with disabilities from poor and rural areas. That’s also 100,000 additional households compared to last year. “The increase in the number of beneficiary families has affected all regions of the Kingdom, according to criteria related to the size of the population, to rural and urban areas, as well as to poverty and vulnerability”, specifies the Foundation, adding that the budget stands at 85 million dirhams.
