41 athletes with disabilities including 18 girls in preparation for Special Olympics World Games

To prepare for the Summer Special Olympics world Games dedicated to people with intellectual disabilities, the 41 Moroccan athletes, including 18 girls, will go on March 5th, 6th and 7th to the Moulay Rachid National Sports Center in Sala Al Jadida.

This is the second intensive session for Moroccan athletes who have intellectual disabilities. In the viewfinder, the Summer Special Olympics world Games organized from March 8 to 22 in the United Arab Emirates.

The 41 athletes, including 18 girls, from the Morocco Special Olympics team will undergo training, from March 5 to 7, at the National Sports Center Moulay Rachid, before taking part in this intense competition which involves the participation of 180 countries and includes 11 disciplines like athletics, horse riding, golf, weightlifting, swimming, or tennis. On the program: physical training sessions supervised by specialized coaches.

Founded in 1994 at the initiative of Princess Lalla Amina, Special Olympics Morocco supports people with intellectual disabilities through sport, facilitating their integration and training coaches and educators to ensure proper coaching. Thus, in addition to the participation in the 2019 World Games, the organization Special Olympics Morocco intends to set up awareness days with families and volunteers to help them develop and improve the quality of services offered to our athletes.
